Appellate Practice

Campbell & Williams has handled many significant and precedent-setting cases in the appellate system.  As a result of our extensive experience in appellate litigation, we have developed a unique perspective in identifying and framing the critical legal issues, particularly with respect to complex and novel legal problems.  Our appellate lawyers perform a range of services relating to appeals and accompanying legal issues, including:

  • Briefing and arguing appeals on the merits;

  • Preparing and opposing petitions for review before the Federal Courts and State Supreme Courts;

  • Providing advice and assistance in briefing significant legal issues at both the state and federal level;

  • Advising clients on appellate issues during and after trial; and

  • Handling appeals before various governmental and regulatory bodies.

The Campbell & Williams appellate practice department is led by J. Colby Williams, who has been singled out by Chambers USA as a “prominent figure on appellate matters.”  Under his guidance, Campbell & Williams is skilled in ensuring that issues are persuasively framed and preserved for appeal by providing its clients with crucial insights into the state and federal appellate court system.
